CVN / MAG Capstone

Overview

The Carrier SMO/MAG Surgeon rotation is the culminating aeromedical experience for residents, merging together the varied clinical and administrative skills one would need if tasked to become a senior medical officer or MAG surgeon. Ideally this rotation will serve as a capstone experience for our more senior residents who are in position to assume these responsibilities and will provide the resident the opportunity to interface with the various shipboard personnel and departments that are so highly integrated within the high tempo environment of a United States aircraft carrier.   All residents will complete the CVN SMO capstone event, however the breadth and depth of the experience will vary along with the opportunity to rotate with a MAG surgeon. This will provide the experience and introduction necessary before assuming the duties of these operationally focused Marine Corps billets.
